Augustine, following Paul, says it’s not money but the love of money that’s the root of all evil. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Be not deceived God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof. Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. How can that be? How is racism, murder, fornication, child or spousal abuse, or any other evil things that we have seen caused by the love of money? In today’s Daily Word, we are examining this question by showing that the love of money is a seed whose harvest is all kinds of evil. Scripture teaches us that the love of money is the root of all evil.
